From the get-go, The Gents have a harmony that could make a choir weep with joy. Coming from Austin, Texas or at least that was the last address they gave because all of the members are from a different state, and with the variety of different songwriters that inhabit the band there is a wide background of music, coming together to form a unified entrance to a new musical beckoning. On another note, with three of the four members being the main songwriting contributors, whenever someone wants to be the lead for the day, the other guys have his back. So no matter what you are in for a one-time only performance. And with no one being in a particular stationed spot, say so-and-so is the guitarist and so-and-so is the drummer but the next time they perform they switch about, perfecting what can only be a holy commune of sorts.
As soft gentle tides cross the borders of bluegrass, constantly forging an adaptability that could not render them in any musical field. With their self-titled EP The Gents serenade us, as a six- song traveling journey. The Gents consist of Matthew Blissard, Tyler Jordan, Kevin Manship, and Martin McCain. Without a doubt they are making waves with their high-energy performances and once in a life time treasures that may slip out of your hand sooner than later. It's a tie between each song; you can't put a price on realistic modern folk music that is original and not exactly folk. In the words of The Gents, who have been compared to Elvis Costello, The Beach Boys and Devil Makes Three, "We honestly couldn't tell you who we sound like. We have no idea." Simply put lads, simply put. This EP would be great for a road trip, so take the chance and feel out the music
