Art Tawanghar. I’m not sure the name needs an introduction at this point. The prominent producer/composer and songwriter has been prolific in the last couple of years. There is no denying he is one of the few musicians blending styles you wouldn’t think would work so well together.
“FIRE, Persian Dance EDM Ft. Shajarian And Lotfi'' is the latest song I’ve heard from him that seamlessly combines elements of club hoppin’ EDM with somewhat traditional Eastern influence and instrumentation. I’m not reaching in saying that there is an almost perfect balance between these genres. A lot of Eastern music is percussive heavy and behind a hard hitting 4/4 dance beat the music sounds revitalized and fresh.
The song starts with a drone of sorts with other elements coming in and out of the mix. There is a prominent male vocal that sounds ancient in some respects. You can then hear Eastern instrumentation combines with a lead synth that you would hear in a club oriented techno or house track. There is a techo/house build which leads to a great groove around the one-minute- and-thirty-second mark. The song soars but refuses to stay still. Tawanghar could have easily just rode out that groove but he doesn't, He keeps you on your feet by switching things up quite often.
By the three-minute mark he really brings everything together with an intoxicating groove that again brings in the male vocal but with more elements and instrumentation. We really haven’t hit the peak yet which comes around the four-minute mark. There is a noticeable lead instrument which might be some type of flute. As the song reaches the five-minute mark there is one last groove before quickly coming to an end.
As with most songs by Tawanghar he manages to fit an impressive amount of instrumentation without it feeling overfilled. This song easily achieves this and leaves you wanting to listen to the song again to discover what you might have missed the first time you heard it.
