David Mieth has been writing and producing original music since the age of twelve. It has been both a source of refuge in the hard times and a source of great joy in the good times. Mieth recently released a two-song EP simply called 2 song E.P.

“Woulda,Shoulda,Coulda” is the opener and revolves around a standard and timeless blues riff that’s been around since the genre was born. The song contains your standard assortment of instrumentation like guitar, bass and drums. Lyrically, the song is also straight down the middle and doesn't deviate from a familiar theme.

Mieth sings “If I woulda felt her yearning, then I shoulda seen her pain and I woulda tried harder, to complete her again But I stayed too busy work'in thinking her forever mine till I found what I was doing, was running out of time.” The song is delivered well and there are no major issues with the song. I did think the instruments were a little low in the mix but that comes down more to preference. Overall, it's a palatable opener that showcases some of his influences in terms of genre and style.

“Alone Again Blues” is similar to the first song in that it’s built on a standard blues chord progression. This song however contains some organ which works really well in the song. It’s also more melancholy and the vocals are delivered in a way that reflects that. The guitar solo is well done. The theme of the song is a classic tale of heartbreak and longing.

Mieth sings “You said that you'd love me for the rest of my days. Then you got up and left me, turned and walked away. Now I stand here singing, all alone and so blue I guess I'll have to make it alone, without you.” I actually preferred his vocals with some melancholy on them.

Mieth isn’t reinventing the wheel here. These types of songs have been floating around for decades.
Mieth seems to go down the path of a purist and doesn't deviate from the template that was established all those years ago. That’s fine because there are plenty of purists when it comes to listeners. If that’s you, then I suspect you will enjoy these songs.
