Dizz Vibes is an artist from Long Beach, California who recently released Rhythm of the Earth. The artist explains: “Rhythm of the Earth was mostly produced during the infamous 2020 - when I was producing it i wanted to create an uplifting good vibes album and as time went on all these horrible tragic things were happening around me.”
The first song is called “Driving Down the One” which is basically straight reggae except the instrumentation all sounded digital or like virtual instruments. There aren’t any significant changes in terms of melody and it revolves around a simple chord progression. It was a catchy and well written song.
“A Breather” is next and sounds a little like Bob Marley but all the music sounds like it comes from soft synths. It’s catchy, warm and relaxing. “Ride The Wave feat. Phill Carrillo (From Steel Parade)” was one of the highlights due to the cool steel drums and vocals.
“Moon Down’' is less reggae but still warm and comforting like the previous songs. We go back into off-kilter reggae with “The Many” while “Plastic” is filled with instruments that infuse some jazz into the reggae.
“Control” is way more hip-hop inspired with some notable flow. I thought “Dark Star” was one of the stronger songs due to the infectious hooks and memorable melodies. The closer “Sunshine” has its moments as well.
The lack of organic instrumentation is my main critique. I think that would have added to the music in terms of emotion and dynamics. There are some nice sounding vocal melodies but sometimes the delivery made it hard to understand what was being said.
Overall, there are some well written songs and I thought the off kilter reggae vibe was engaging. I look forward to hearing where the artist goes from here.
