Dylan Peggin is an artist from New Jersey who recently released his self-titled album Dylan Peggin. The album features straightforward rock/pop songs. There is some talent here but it’s seems fairly obvious that Peggin still has his work cut out for him to become competitive with today's most talented artists.
The hard thing to get past is the recording quality. It’s more or less a demo. Take for example “Take The World by Storm.” There are so many high frequencies in this song that you can’t listen to it loud otherwise your ears will start ringing. Other than that this song is decently written and well delivered. As the album progresses Peggin has some inspired moments and others that don’t pan out so well. “Flower Child” has its moments with vocal harmonies and it has a ‘60s pop song that sounds good. Others song like “Talk To Me” have some unflattering moments. The first half of the song works out ok but the rapping towards the end of the song just doesn’t work. Peggin has some success with ‘50s sounding “Redhead Goddess” and the cosmic sounding “Light Years.” ”Dark Globe” is the highlight on the album because of the vocal harmonies. It’s a simple song revolving around no more than a guitar and vocals but it works. “Searched The World to Find You” is a bit of ballad. Peggin doesn’t always hit the right notes when he’s singing and veers toward the melodramatic. He closes with another highlight entitled “Opel” which again revolves around an acoustic and his vocals. Peggin at the very least built a foundation with this album. Hopefully, some time in the future he will release an album with refined production and recording quality so we can hear more of his talent.
