Entierralos is a band comprised of Luis Marquez (guitar/vocals), Gabriel Benincasa (bass/vocals) and Irvin Guzman (drums). The band formed in 2015 and released a five-song EP entitled Okis. The band has an off kilter punk style that I would compare to Les Savy Fav and The Liars. In particular They Threw Us All In A Trench And Stuck A Monument On Top from The Liars. I thought they had a pretty unique sound which is hard to do. The production was good. On that note some of the vocals could have been treated better in some instances.

The band opens with “Don't Call Me Daddy When... Y’know.” I really liked the grooves, the transitions and the juxtaposition between the elements. I also enjoyed the ambiguous lyrics. Marquez sings, “He loves to see them cry puts them in a trance Stupid little butterflies The king wants his dance.” The song is very dynamic going from intense metal type riffs to dance punk and even to moments of post-rock . The singing is solid but sometimes it wasn't working as well when he was screaming. It seemed too raw. Maybe some saturation and additional compression would have helped. Overall, a great opener.

The band has more success with “Deaf.” I thought the guitar riffs were inventive and so were the bass and drum parts for that matter. “A Letter to the Poop Deck” was a bit silly. I can’t say this was their strongest song. The part with the overlapping conversation was a good attempt but it didn't work for me.

I thought the highlight was “This.” The vocals sound great. It feels like his natural range and I thought it was catchy as well. I thought the comparisons to Les Savy Fav were most noticeable on this track. The band closes with “A Bard's Tale” which wasn’t sung but spoken for most of it. I have mixed feeling about this. The music was inventive which wasn't surprising. It also a very dynamic song.

I really dig this band and there were just some minor things I would like to see improved. This band has a unique sound. Overall, two thumbs up.
