There are some Christian worship albums that are subtle. I can’t say No Shadows by Eric Kneifel is. I dated a girl for a couple of years who was a Christian. I respected her beliefs and attended church with her quite often. They have a worship singing thing they do before the pastor starts to preach the word. No Shadows sounds almost exactly like that. A bunch of people singing, super optimistic, happy and well and very much about the big guy.
I could imagine the people rising from their seats while this music is playing. A mother is holding her baby, slightly swaying back and forth while stumbling through the lyrics on the teleprompter. Is there anything new this music is bringing to the table? No not at all. It follows all the tropes of any worship I have heard before. I wanted so badly for one song to be done metal but it just didn't happen. Are you a fan of worship music? Maybe you are. In that case this is another one to add to your collection. I mean Kneifel can sing well and so can the female who does accompany him on occasion. If you heard one song on this album you should get the idea of what you are in for. Almost all of the songs whether it's “You Alone Are Worthy” or “I Will Rejoice” have that grandiose, worship vibe going one. There are some more subdued numbers which deviate slightly from a typical sounding worship song. I thought “The Bride” and “Carpe Diem” were well delivered songs that were well written. The truth is this is an album that you have to embrace worship and believe in god to fully enjoy. Those of us who are atheists or agnostics will most likely not be listening to this in our spare time. Those are just facts. On the other hand if you have been scanning your iTunes library recently and noticed a lack of worship music well I believe I just did you a favor. Enjoy.
