Eye Röller is a punk rock band formed in NYC in 2017. The band features Erik Epling (guitar/vocals), Eamon Lebow (lead guitar), Tsugumi Takashi (bass) and Charlie McGrath (drums). They are releasing their debut album entitled Feel It Roar.
According to their Bandcamp page, their album “fantasizes on the theme of cranking our amps so loud that people’s heads explode into a million pieces, showering blood all over New York.”
And that is quite a goal to reach. Eye Röller is an epic band with a loud and bombastic punk rock style. Their enthused guitars, thumping bass lines and rapid drum lines that are meant to be played loud. With influences that refer to such bands like The Stooges, Motörhead, Link Wray, Teengenerate and Guitar Wolf, the band harnesses their influences in their sound while also paving the way with their own unique cadence.
Feel It Roar opens with “Slob” where a full range comes from the industrial-like guitars. The rhythms are heavy and pulsate with a kind of kinetic energy. The sound is metal-tinged. The bass lines come in wreaking havoc on this track. The vocals are gritty hashed out in raging shouts. There is evident a lot of fevered energy. The music is loud and deafening. The guitars are radioactive.
On the title-track, searing guitar riffs pounce in the start of this song. Rolling rhythms from the bass lines pulsate with fervor. The vocals are harsh-sounding, unfolding in rough screams and shouts. Bursts of energy could be felt propelling this track.
Following is “Eye Röller,” where heavy guitar riffs go the distance on this highly energetic song. The music is rhythms-heavy and a real exciting sound is relinquished. The vocals are executed in rage-fueled vibes. The drums are fast and rapid. An epic guitar solo sounds off toward the three-and-a-half-minute hold.
On the closer “Brain,” rollicking guitars rev up the start of the track. The vocals are blistering, hewing in a whole lot of grit and noise. The drumming is adamant and fast-paced. The rock n’ roll vibe is gnarly and dark. Blazing guitars add a riveting cadence.
With insane drums keeping time to the rhythm-heavy bass lines and a wall of guitars that demolishes with its eruptive sound, Eye Röller displays a heavy vibe that is filled with riotous energy. Without a doubt, they are purveyors to the punk rock scene with raging vocals that are spewed out in emotional outbursts and a demanding sound that is meant to be played loud and fast.
And the album is certainly loud with a roaring sound that contains a whole lot of range. With guitars that pulverize, bass lines that demolish and drums that are heavily insulated, Eye Röller’s demented cries and wails canvass the entire record. Fervent and wholly on a circuit of their own, the band cycles through many an energetic performance that you will want to relive again and again.
