GORGEOUS is the debut EP from FOLIE. The EP melds elements of pop, hip-hop and many more. It’s an eclectic EP which doesn’t pigeonhole FOLIE but also manages to create a sound I hope to hear more of in the future.
This EP is very well produced. There is just no arguing that. I thought the beats sounded great and his vocals sat very well in the mix. The EP opens with “Hotel Room” which is a single worthy song that you could imagine people enjoying at a club. I thought the hooks were strong on this song. I was humming along the second time I heard the song. Up next is “Hey Now” which is another success. The verse on this song isn’t only upbeat it also has a joyful feel to it. The lyrics reinforce the feel. He asks on the chorus “Do you want love?” I was a big fan of the message as well as the whistling.. “RUNNIN WILD” is a little darker but I wouldn't call it ominous. The chorus in particular in this song has a single worthy type of hook. He repeats “you and I running wild.” “Sorrow” really has a different feel than anything that came before. It’s almost Motown at points. I really enjoyed the production on this song and the chorus is infectious. He closes with “White Dress” which is the cherry on top. The song is a little more contemplative than the previous songs but it felt appropriate to end with. Overall, this is a great introduction to an artist I hope to hear a lot more from. He has talent, the production is top notch and he has a unique style.
