By Santiago Garcia

Fusion Extrusion is a mysterious and enigmatic musician, or perhaps machine, that uses the power and smoothness of the electric guitar to concoct interesting and melodic electronic music. The artist known as Fusion Extrusion has recently spent time diving into the depths of electronic music, like House and Deep house, and mixing it with movie score sounds. His exploration and creations have led to an album called Intrusion.

Intrusion starts out with the track “Multiverse” which takes us into an interesting, realistic world. The track starts out with sounds typical of a busy metropolitan area. Cars bustling, people talking. All of this is soon drowned out by the sound of a deliciously smooth electric guitar. The entire track moves between earthly sounds and electronic samples of spacey, heavenly and cosmic sounds. The contrast is nice, and the track keeps an up-tempo beat and melody that makes it a fun and heady listen.

There is a good amount of variety within Intrusion. The second song, titled “Bionic March Across The Universe” takes a slower and more industrial sound. It does not have the feel-good melody of other songs, and seems more like a journey into a dark and mysterious corner of the artist’s mind.

Fusion Extrusion seems to mix a lot of electronic samples remnant of movie and tv-show trailers. These are melodic yet interesting sounds similar to what Bombay Dub Orchestra or Thievery Corporation like to do. The songs and sounds are creative, and always well constructed. While they mix in a variety of trippy sounds and samples, all the songs always have a steady and consistent flow.

This album does seem to be an experimental process for Fusion Extrusion. Intrusion moves in and out of different genres, and it seems the artist is showcasing the different influences and capabilities in his arsenal. There is “Funky F.U.N.K.Y House Mix” for example that contrasts heavily from the other tracks. Perhaps Fusion Extrusion is testing out all his styles to see how listeners react to each. Clearly, the artist is well-versed and experienced with music production and Intrusion is an excellent look into the abilities and range of his style. Hopefully Fusion Extrusion continues to explore the sounds he’s got and comes back with another album soon.
