INDOLORE is an artist who recently released After the Rain. The album contains eight songs and lasts around thirty-one minutes. He mentions: “This album is my message of hope after months of high stress.” I agree and the album does that through more than just words. The album is warm and provides solace from the production to the song structure. I would say there’s this mix of melancholy and hope.
Take for instance the opener “Let the Sun Come” which features some delicate acoustic guitar, intimate vocals and other instrumentation. At around the forty-second mark there’s a nice change in mood but it’s subtle when he sings the title of the song.
“The Things That You Said” is a fantastic song and has some beautiful guitar picking and vocal melodies. The percussive elements are subtle and rise when they are needed. I’m not sure if that was snapping that I heard but it works very well in the song.
“I Found a Friend Today” contains more warm guitar and vocals and is more atmospheric. It sounds like there’s a wind instrument and maybe some synths as well. That’s followed up nicely with “Naive in Love” which adds percussion again but it’s not overwhelming and transitions well.
The emotions continue to rise with “Oh Boy” which sheds almost all the darkness in favor of comforting elements which feel inspirational and motivational. There’s more beautiful simplicity to “Alicia Stone” and full band on “Star in My Life.” The album closes with the nostalgic, cosmic and dreamy “Dream On.”
This was a great album and I particularly loved the guitar playing and vocals which seemed to be at the center of the experience. The production is also very good, making this one you won’t want to miss.
