Forming in late 2015 Jimmy & the Wolf doesn’t have much experience under their belt but are showing some potential on their first effort Been Dreaming. They play rock/alternative and at this point don’t have too much going on within their music but to be honest that's probably to be expected with a band that has been in existence for such a small amount of time.

The production is about that of a demo. It’s not anywhere close to a professional sounding recording but does serve as a solid indication of what the band is capable of at this point. Besides the production there are a number of things the band will have to continue to improve upon. The first and really most important is staying in time. To be blunt the band is occasionally out of the pocket and a number of the transitions could have been tighter.

On the other side of the coin the band does have a couple of things going for them right now. In particular I thought the lead singer had an aesthetically pleasing voice. It's hard to pinpoint what I liked about it but I found it to be the element that carries the songs.

The band gets going with “Golden Kingdom” which I initially thought sounded like straight up pop because of the piano and vocal style. Unfortunately, when the instrumentation comes in the snare is so much louder than every other element that it's distracting. Other than that the song is pretty good.

“Far From Home” is another solid song. The guitar work revolves basic chord progressions, which supports the vocals. As with the previous track the snare is obnoxiously loud. The sort of rapping/singing doesn’t pan out very well on “Patiently” while “Run” displays another distinct vocals style, which almost sounds like straight up talking.

With a little bit of tweaking Jimmy & the Wolf should be on the right path. If they can fix some of the technical issues and dig further into a distinct sound on their follow up I could see more people paying attention to their songs.
