Jurgeefix is the solo project for Bryan J. You know that guy in the top right corner of his Bandcamp page. I’m pretty sure that's the guy who wrote and played every instrument on I can't hear you - your pants are on. That title is absurd and thought provoking. My first thought was “what do my pants have to do with with speaking into your ears;” my next thought was not to think about it anymore.
I can't hear you - your pants are on is a lo-fi effort with a bunch of pop songs. You probably won't come to tears but there are some decent grooves. He opens with “Reminded Me of You” which is revolves around a couple of distorted power chords, programmed drums and some words. The next track “ez Reggae” is a good five dbs louder so be careful. I thought the music sounded somewhere between Janet Jackson and wait for it…Reggae. “Sat Around” is his next moderate success. There were times where it seemed like he was mumbling under the music which was confusing but kind of cool at the same time. “The Human Animal 2” was certainly a stand-out track. I was reminded of Mac Demarco a wee bit. The other highlights were “Becoming Me” and “Growing Up.” I think Bryan J might have some potential but I do have a couple of pointers which I hope helps him. First and foremost I would either work with a mastering engineer or learn how to use a limiter in post-production. The volume levels of the songs are all over the place. Some songs are much louder than others which can not only be startling to those who weren’t expecting it but sucks for those who have to keep adjusting the volume. The songs are short, basic and at their best kind of fun. He doesn’t seem to take his songs or himself too seriously from his lyrics and I felt like that worked well with the delivery of these songs.
