The album Transmit by Michael Bruner is happy go lucky and filled with hope. The first song “Too Good” is poppy and tropical. Sure, the content of course is love and its quandaries, however it feels Hawaii inspired and easy. Bruner’s voice is beautiful and sexy. He hits those high notes with ease and has some slight backup of an angelic woman in the background. He reminds me of a mix between Jack Johnson, and every other sexy songwriter that addresses the issues of love. The lyrics on “Too Good" are "This is too good to be true." There is some skanking with the guitar that brings that reggae feeling. This song is most definitely a hit single. It makes my heart sing and I think that I listened to it several times in a row just because of how much I love it. It is girly, it is catchy and it is special. I really love his voice. It is like ice cream topped with caramel and whipped cream. It is smooth, creamy and delicious. There is not a lot of voice range but he hits the higher octaves with such pleasantry.

The lyrics from “Pockets of Rain” include "Don't let the intellect elude what you see. None to obtain washing the wonder clean." This song reminds us to let go of the intellectual mind and embrace the magic and beauty of life that is left unrefined. We don't need to over think it; just let go, drop in and let flow. It tells us that the mind can sometimes wash the wonder away, which is so true. No need to try to understand everything. The unbelievable only happens when you believe. Sugary guitar pinnings that are almost like an ukulele, mixed with a very gentle slight slap of the drum here and again. Not too much instrumentation necessary when a singer has a voice like Bruner’s.

“Sundown” is easy and powerful. Again, there is a sparse expression of drums and guitar. It feels fireside and magical. The last song “With A Melody” ties the short but sweet four-song album together with its dance like sound. "Instead of being down, I turn my day around with a melody." The guitar in this song sounds jazzy and fun. It gives me the sentiment that I am at a wedding reception and everyone has sparkly eyes as they remember their love that has been demonstrated by the fresh newlyweds. It is gorgeous and easy. I love it.

The album Transmit is short and sugary. It is a perfect summertime album that sounds great at the beach, at the river and fireside. I love the emotion that is evoked with Bruner’s stunning voice. He has one of those that is unforgettable. His soul is transparent and can be felt by all with his vocal stylings. I think this album is ripe for the picking in the mainstream world as well, because it is just so catchy and romantic. Please check it out. No regrets!
