Off And On Again is a band from Pennsylvania consisting of Gavin Cole (vocals), Matt Burridge (guitar/vocals) and Matt Straubel (bass). The band formed earlier in the year but this isn't the members’ first rodeo. The band released a self-titled three-song EP Off And ON Again which is about ten minutes long.

They play fast, high energy music that bares comparisons to bands like Blood Brothers, Pretty Girls Make Graves and Circa Survive to name a few. First thing I noticed was just how tight and in the pocket the band was. The explosive, metronome timing is apparent  on the first seconds of “Hello” which is a glaring example of the band’s ability to play in sync together.

The song goes through a copious amount of changes within two minutes. They pack a lot in and there is absolutely no fat in the song. A great song overall and also a good way to get listeners’ attention. The vibe of the song doesn't particularly fit the lyrics but I liked that. It’s more or less a straightforward love song. Cole sings,  “Like a bright light In a starry sky You changed my life Like a sign from the divine As I speed through This strange thing called time You make me want To stop and stay a while.”

Up next is “Introvert” which is another solid song. It has subdued energy. The performances are again very tight and I felt like the vocals were emotionally powerful on this track. I though the vocal harmonies at the very end of the song were great. They close with “Barrier” which amps the energy up again. Burridge kills it on guitar. One notable riff after another.

Overall, this is a cohesive, well-produced EP which displays a good amount of talent. This band has the goods. I’m looking forward to more soon.
