Rupcha Farms is a group that had a vision of blending hard rock, rap and rave genres into something new and fresh. The result was their self-titled release Rupcha Farms which contains seven songs. This release gets in and out fast at only twenty-three minutes. That being said, the group doesn't waste a single second.
The band gets going with “Lab Rats” which gets the energy up right away. This song is unequivocally intense and will get your adrenaline pumping. The band sounded like a mix of TV on the Radio at their most aggressive with a ’90s alternative feel. I would say the bass and drums were really mixed well and led the charge.
“Cash Rules“ had more rapping in it. The song is also dynamic with explosive moments. There’s a mix of arpeggiated synths, guitar and more. I was getting early 2000s metal scene vibes on this song which was quite popular at the time.
“Poison Ivy” is another banger which is intense and dynamic. The band also knows how to do a breakdown and build back up to epic moments. Linkin Park would be proud of the chorus. “Nomads” is the arguable highlight. There are some really well-done falsetto vocals which sound great along with an ominous atmosphere.
“Dogma” was more experimental and also another highlight. There’s some killer production and the vocals seem to have multiple layers of modulation as well as de-tuning. “Nuff” is a very epic sounding song and builds to some high peaks. There’s also some spoken word which works well. It reminded me of a political speech. They end strong with the more rock-based “Parasites.”
This band brings it. I don’t think this is music you can fully appreciate at low levels so turn this up.
