Soundscape Boulevard was formed in Sydney, Australia. This is the instrumental musical project of musician, producer and composer Nino Morano. Project From A Small Room EP is an apt name for this short, five-track project. It appears sheepish, timid and reserved on the surface, but is oozing with talent, depth and ear-candy once actually consumed.

The opening track “The Adventurer” is a rollercoaster ride is ethereal in some ways. The opening middle-eastern melody transitions into piano tinkering and piano tinkering merges with a fierce guitar riff. Whilst the electronic beat does have a slight tendency to stick out at times, any opinion on mixing is simply a fruitless matter of personal choice. Production is not the most important of music, in any case.

“Hall of Music” is a sci-fi-esque, stunning piano melody. From the opening notes, I was hooked and that is the mark of earworm songwriting. There are few songs which have the ability to evoke such ecstasy and elation within moments of beginning. Spatters of reverberating guitar dart in and out of the track, as do tastefully-placed moments of percussion.

My personal favorite was “Reflections.” Experimental to the right extent and gorgeous because of it, everything combines perfectly. The beat is simplistic, tempered and blends perfectly with the fluttering of acoustic guitars and piercing guitar riffs. This song focuses on forging an atmospheric synth soundscape, strings, keyboard and limited moments of acoustic instruments. Everything just feels right on this track.

All in all, Nino Morano may still have more growing to do, but that is a good thing. He can only head upwards from here, and this EP was truly inspiring piece of art.
