Steady Hussle is a one man project from a twenty two year old musician from Toronto, Ontario. He started his project in 2014 and over the course of four months ended writing his first EP entitled Copacetic.
Copacetic by Steady Hussle is an uplifting, floral sounding album brimming with positivity and joy. There is an intermittent infusion of brassy horns giving it a jazzy edge. Steady drums and falsetto vocals bring you into a world that is undying and energized. Lickity split electric guitar riffs serve as strong fibers that weave together the pieces. “My Apartment” has a steady heartbeat to it that is romantic and enticing. Reminds me of a teenage movie soundtrack. There is some slight bending in the vocals and riffs giving it wiry sound. “Blindly Optimistic” implements some record scratching and a Hawaiian vibe. One of the highlights on the EP is 22 Hackett. It seemed like the most single worthy song on the EP He sings " I've got my brain working overtime, overtime for nothing at all. This winter is getting old." This seems familiar to me a being that it is winter and it feels that same way for me right now. I think this is a great winter/summertime album. It brings you out of the darkness into the light. Has an uncanny similarity to Blink 182 at times. It definitely gives you that punk- esque sound that you find in Green Day too. Nasally, high pitched expedited forward moving sounds that bring you into a realm of bopping and jumping around. I recommend Copacetic it if you are looking to listen to something light and carefree. The EP has more of mainstream feel that seems undeniable. I think it won’t take most people very long to realize if this is up there alley.
