The Flesh Failures is a band consisting of Andrew Holowka (guitar), LD (guitar), Ulysses Espino (bass) and Kyle Jenkinstags (drums). They’ve only been together since 2015 but apparently had a couple of lineup changes. The band managed to get out a LP entitled Time is Not The Future.
The album is bloody messy noise and quite exciting. Their aesthetics lie somewhere between Block Party and iceage. It’s raucous loud rock made to upset baby boomers raised on Pat Boone. It's the type of sound that really doesn't need much explanation. Why you ask? Am I lazy? Yeah a little bit but more so this music is visceral. It makes your heart thump, gets your adrenaline going and if turned up loud could make you move your legs faster than normal. They get hip to the noise on the first song “Angry Eyes” which sort of sounds like The Walkmen with a punk vibe. At least that was my first thought. It’s a solid track and definitely one of the highlights. Kudos to the bassist on this track. He kind of nails it. The band plows forward with delicious distortion on “Role Model” and “Over Me.” They go political punk with “I Bet You Vote Trump” and close with arguably the catchiest one of the batch entitled “Green Lights.” I like this band’s spirit. It’s rough on the edges and gooey on the inside. Ok maybe i’m off with that analogy. Let me rephrase that. It’s rough on the edges and rougher on the inside. Hmmm that doesn't seem quite right either. I think I’ll just go ahead and recommend this band because they rock hard.
