Two Days Until Tomorrow is a ska/punk band from Youngstown, OH, whose mission is to bring ska music to as many listeners as possible through the use of catchy songs with high-energy live performances. In June 2011, the members of the band met when their passion for music crossed their inevitable love of performing. The band currently consists of six members: Frank Toncar (vocals/guitar), Dante Basista (bass/vocals), Jerry Runyan (trumpet), Joe Nidel (trombone), Braxton Stein (trombone) and Spiro Schialdone (drums/vocals).
Coming from an area that is rather dry in terms of ska, Two Days Until Tomorrow’s goal is to repopulate the region. In highlighting the group, they have performed at a lot of venues and have opened for a lot of national acts such as Attack Attack! and Red Jumpsuit Apparatus. On February 10, 2013, they joined Royal 6 Records releasing their third EP What Are You Fighting For?
Two Days Until Tomorrow is a band that isn't afraid of evolving. I don't know if they really try to push their limits by going out of their way to evolve, or if it just happens naturally, but they seem to do it amazingly. When listening to What Are You Fighting For? the first time, it will be obvious to you within the first few seconds that they've evolved again. On this album they mix their ska with pop-punk and rock for a totally fresh sound. Also, lyrically, this album is deeper and more powerful than their earlier work.
Two Days Until Tomorrow continue to carry forward an elite almost exclusive genre of music with their "punk with horns" sound and melodious yet rhythmic vocals. You cannot listen to this album without moving; it is impossible. The talent and catchy choruses these guys have is nothing short of marvelous and it doesn't let up. Sure it has its slow, reggae and ska moments too.
What Are You Fighting For? is jam-packed with quality punk-ska tunes, with everyone bringing something special to make this album great. The best songs in my mind have to be the opening title track, “What Are You Fighting For?,” then “Naked Jerry,” “What Are You Living For?” and “Relax (Take it Slow).” This is not to say that any other songs on the album are bad, just that those are my personal favorites.
This album represents the best in punk and ska, maintaining a good sense of humor, but without distracting from some powerful statements, as on “What Are You Living For?” All throughout they’ve got some great brass sounds, mixed with chunky driving guitars, which make this album rock!
What Are You Fighting For? is without a doubt, Two Days Until Tomorrow’s best release.
